Exceptional Soft Magnetic Properties of an Ordered Multi-principal Element Alloy with Disordered Nanoprecipitates

In this work, a new non-equiatomic multi-principal element alloy (MPEA) Fe40Co30Mn15Al15 with excellent soft magnetic performance was fabricated. The microstructure and behavior of the as-cast were investigated experimentally theoretically using synchrotron X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, atom probe tomography, vibrating sample magnetometry, density functional theory calculations. consists an ordered B2-phase matrix enriched Co/Al uniformly distributed BCC nanoprecipitates Fe/Mn. exhibits high saturation magnetization ~ 158 Am2/kg, low coercivity 108 A/m, electrical resistivity 238 µΩ cm, Curie temperature 1020 K, which shows combination properties compared to previously reported MPEAs conventional FeCo alloys. findings thus provide perspective for designing high-performance materials applications.
